How IPL Photo Rejuvenation Works:

Superior cosmetic results can be achieved in a safe, non invasive 4-6 treatment course of IPL, ensuring gradual improvement with very low risk that is specifically tailored to your individual condition and skin tone. With a typical treatment taking only 20 to 40 minutes, you’ll be able to take advantage of the benefits of a more youthful appearance without interruption to your busy lifestyle.

Intense Pulsed Light therapy uses multiple wavelengths of light to treat the affected area. Effectively, the structures of the condition causing the rosacea, pigmentation, capillaries or simply the aging of the skin, absorb the precise energy level and various wavelengths of light that are emitted from the IPL technology. In turn, the light then travels to the structures of the skin causing the condition to occur which are then destroyed and become absorbed by the skin. Over time and with the right course of treatment, the condition becomes visibly reduced resulting in rejuvenated, collagen enhanced, younger looking skin.

Before the treatment, the client is diagnosed and asked a few questions with regards to their skin and its condition. Protective eyewear has to be worn by the patient and specialist due to the brightness of the Intense Pulse Light (IPL). During the treatment, our specialist applies the IPL handpiece to the skin, light is then delivered to the skin surface in precise pulses that are typically pain free. Once treatment is completed clients may feel a little heat on the surface of the treated area and some redness, which can last for 1 to 2 hours. In most cases the entire face is treated but that depends on the individual. Results from a full series of IPL treatments, last approximately upwards of a year, however maintenance treatment sessions scheduled at half-yearly intervals will help to ensure long lasting results.

IPL Photorejuvenation FAQs

What is Photo Rejuvenation?
Photo Rejuvenation is not a laser treatment. Photo Rejuvenation is a non-invasive treatment and consists of the generation and transmission of extremely bright broad spectrum light through a handpiece that is held to the surface of the skin.

How does Photo Rejuvenation work?
Photo Rejuvenation is applied via a series of gentle light pulses over the treatment area. As the light penetrates the skin it is absorbed by small surface blood vessels or pigmentation. The heat generated by the absorbed energy causes damage to the vessels or pigmented areas stimulating the body’s own natural healing process. Pigmented lesions will typically darken, and harden before they flake off or are absorbed by the body.

What do treatments involve?
A cool gel is usually applied to the area prior to treatment. Protective glasses will be provided to protect your eyes from the bright light. The handpiece is held to treatment areas and pulses of light are applied. A slight sting may be felt – similar to the light snap of a small rubber band. Treatment is generally administered in a series of procedures that typically range from 20 to 45 minutes.

How many treatments will I need?
Typically, a course of four or six treatments may be recommended at three week intervals. There is no “down-time” with Photo Rejuvenation. You can return to work and assume all normal activities immediately after treatment. Follow-up treatments may be desired once a year to maintain results.

What will Photo Rejuvenation do?
After a course of treatments, you will see a significant reduction of unwanted pigmentation and your skin tone will even out. Expect to see a gradual decrease in redness, broken capillaries, flushing irregular pigmentation, pore size and fine lines. Results will continue as treatments progress.

How do I care for my skin after the treatment?
Following treatment, ice may be applied to the treated area if desired. Medications containing ASA or anti-inflammatories (Aspirin, Motrin, Advil, Ibuprofen, etc.) should be avoided for a couple of days before and after IPL treatment. Strenuous exercise and contact sports should be avoided for a few days, and alcohol intake should be limited. This will help to reduce the risk of trauma and bruising. Sun tanning and tanning beds should be avoided for 1 month before and after each IPL session. A broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher should be used on daily basis.

How much does IPL photorejuvenation cost?
The cost depends on the area to be treated and on the number of treatments desired. A course of 5-6 treatments is recommended in order to achieve optimal results, but this may vary from one individual to another. During your consultation, I will help to determine what is best for you. Generally, the price ranges from £150 and up per treatment.

Youthful Skin with Photo rejuvenation

Intense Pulse Light (IPL) is the latest advancement for younger and more beautiful looking skin at Beauty by Lizzie. This procedure not only minimises fine lines and wrinkles but eliminates capillaries, rosacea and even some birthmarks.

The aging process can be exacerbated by environmental factors including sun exposure, gravity and hormones. Collagen in the skin deteriorates and results in wrinkles and fine lines surrounding the eyes, lips, brow and décolletage. IPL works exceptionally to combat the effects of aging and regain that youthful, vibrant appearance. Whilst skin products do work temporarily, the process can sometimes require more effective solution and in some cases is irreversible.

The only truly effective treatment for facial, neck, chest and body erythema is skin photo rejuventation. Unsightly capillaries and small veins on the face and body are removed whilst body erythema, flushing and pigmentation are minimised on the face, neck and chest. Photrejuenation is clinically proven to reduce the signs of aging, reverse collagen damage and red discolouration.

Improvements are visible in a few treatment with 70% of patients noticing improvements after the first treatment. The treatment is safe to treat any part of the body and there is no social downtime associated with the procedure.
